Springfield had lost seven straight, but after bumping their record up to 8-13 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Riverton Hawks as they made off with a 13-1 win. Springfield not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8th (when they won 15-0).
Keilyn Howard spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lanie Dumonceaux was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Stoops, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Springfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
As for Riverton, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly 12 runs.
On Riverton's side, they also let their pitcher toss all six innings played and she was also dialed-in: Gabriella Speaks gave up only one earned (and 12 unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Speaks.
On the hitting side, Riverton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Issi Wilkinson, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. That RBI was Wilkinson's first of the season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield will square off against Athens at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Springfield's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Riverton, they will face off against Taylorville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
