Softball Recap: Springfield vs. Riverton Hawks

Springfield had lost seven straight, but after bumping their record up to 8-13 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Riverton Hawks as they made off with a 13-1 win. Springfield not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8th (when they won 15-0).

Keilyn Howard spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lanie Dumonceaux was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Stoops, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Springfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
