Basketball Recap: University Comes Up Short

University was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 28-16 to the Grant Lancers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-13 back in December of 2024.

Valeria Vega was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 boards for Grant. Vega is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last eight games she's played. Paulina Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

University's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Grant, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

University wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 32-23 win against Fairfax on the 27th. Grant has also already played their next game, a 38-16 victory against Chavez on the 27th.
