Football Recap: Freeport Bulldogs vs. South Walton Seahawks
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Freeport can now relate to. They were outmatched by the South Walton Seahawks and fell 42-3. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Seahawks recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Carter Nunes threw for 97 yards on six of 16 attempts. Julius Miles was his top target, picking up 65 receiving yards. On the ground, Dylan Louthain rushed for 39 yards.
JD Brown produced another solid performance throwing for 283 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also punching in three scores on the ground for South Walton. That's the most rushing touchdowns Brown has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Max Baker, who picked up 183 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Freeport's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for South Walton, they pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
Freeport does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Walton, they will head out on the road to challenge Pensacola Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Crusaders' defense has only allowed 14.5 points per game this season, so the Seahawks' offense will have their work cut out for them.
