Notre Dame hadn't done well against Chattanooga Central recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Fighting Irish's pitcher stepped up to hand the Purple Pounders a 10-0 shutout. The Fighting Irish might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.
Kaylee Pendergrass looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Charlie Schroyer was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Martin, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Notre Dame always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chattanooga Central only posted an OBP of .286.
Notre Dame's record now sits at 9-7. As for Chattanooga Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.
Coming up, Notre Dame is taking a road trip to face off against Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.9 runs per game on average), something the Fighting Irish will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Chattanooga Central, they will be playing at home against Signal Mountain at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
