Basketball Recap: Gilbert Comes Up Short

After soaring to 55 points the game before, Gilbert was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They took a blow against the South Aiken Thoroughbreds, falling 54-25. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 53-38 to the Thoroughbreds when the teams met back in January of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

South Aiken found their leader in freshman Isabella Bottom, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine steals. Those nine steals set a new season-high mark for Bottom. Haydenn Kosinski was another key player, going 7-for-15 en route to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Gilbert now has a losing record of 5-6. As for South Aiken, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-3 record.

Gilbert has already played their next contest, a 69-28 loss against Midland Valley on the 9th. As for South Aiken, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 67-26 defeat against North Augusta on the 9th.
