Volleyball Recap: Archbishop Riordan Comes Up Short

Archbishop Riordan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory Fightin' Irish, falling 3-0. The Crusaders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Fightin' Irish earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

While Archbishop Riordan had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-18, 25-21.

Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cali Tangaan, who had 18 assists and four digs. Tangaan has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more assists the last three times she's played.

Archbishop Riordan's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.

Archbishop Riordan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against St. Ignatius College Preparatory on the 23rd. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Saint Francis on the 23rd.
