Valle Catholic is 8-2 against Potosi since October of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Warriors will head out to square off against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Valle Catholic's victory against Bismarck wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Indians 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Valle Catholic wouldn't go down easily and took Bismarck into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 26-24, 20-25, 25-13, 15-7.
Valle Catholic can attribute much of their success to Adyson Rayoum, who had nine digs and three assists. That's the most assists Rayoum has posted over her last 11 contests.
Meanwhile, Potosi made easy work of Fredericktown on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Black Cats: they've now won four in a row.
Potosi walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-15, 25-19.
Valle Catholic's record now sits at 14-2-1. As for Potosi, their record is now 12-3-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's match: Valle Catholic has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Potosi struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.2 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Valle Catholic came up short against Potosi when the teams last played back in September of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
