Basketball Game Preview: Halifax County Comets vs. Liberty Minutemen

The Halifax County Comets will venture away from home to square off against the Liberty Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Halifax County is headed into the game having just suffered their closest defeat since January 24, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of George Washington by a score of 40-37. The loss continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Liberty came into Friday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They took down Brookville 53-34 on Friday. Given the Minutemen's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the Bees are ranked 345th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Halifax County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 12-3.
