Softball Recap: Valley Vista Comes Up Short

Valley Vista extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-17. They came up short against the Tolleson Wolverines, falling 18-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 on Monday.

Addison Kennedy was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.

As for Tolleson, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.

On Tolleson's side, Milleana Lara tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Lara has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Valley Vista will square off against Shadow Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tolleson, they will challenge Verrado at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wolverines' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vipers have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
