Basketball Game Preview: Oak City Prep Bears vs. Fayetteville Academy Eagles

The Oak City Prep Bears are taking a road trip to square off against the Fayetteville Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Oak City Prep is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. The match between them and New Life Christian Academy didn't end well, with Oak City Prep falling 91-73. The Bears were down 77-48 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Amazin Dixon, who went 9 for 14 en route to 22 points and eight assists. The game was his 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Rullo, who went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Fayetteville Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against Harrells Christian Academy, falling 87-61. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Crusaders are ranked 35th).

Oak City Prep's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Fayetteville Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-8.
