Softball Game Preview: Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers vs. Bishop Carroll Huskies

The Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Bishop Carroll Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop Carroll took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Westmont Hilltop, who comes in off a win.

Westmont Hilltop is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Somerset. Westmont Hilltop was the clear victor by an 18-8 margin over Somerset on Tuesday.

Addy Dunbar made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Dunbar was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Kelsie Muto was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Lamya Stevens, who went 1-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Bishop Carroll unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 20-0 to Bedford on Thursday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Westmont Hilltop took their win against Bishop Carroll in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1. Does Westmont Hilltop have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bishop Carroll turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
