Basketball Recap: Central Golden Eagles vs. Northampton Blue Devils
The Central Golden Eagles waltzed into their game on Friday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They walked away with a 61-48 victory over Northampton. That's another feather in the cap for Central, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler Swan out in front who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Swan continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Angela Hector, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds.
Central pushed their record up to 12-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Northampton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central and the Terriers will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. West Springfield is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Northampton, they will head out on the road to square off against the at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Springfield International focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 42 last Monday.
