Flag Football Game Preview: Standley Lake Gators vs. Lakewood Tigers + Official Tickets

The Standley Lake Gators will head out to challenge the Lakewood Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

On Wednesday, Standley Lake and Dakota Ridge were almost perfectly matched up, but Standley Lake suffered a 7-6 loss. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Standley Lake didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Rae Coronado Coronado picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. She got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Lakewood got themselves on the board against Elizabeth on Thursday, but Elizabeth never followed suit. They breezed past the Cardinals to the tune of 41-0. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.

Standley Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Lakewood, they moved to 6-7 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Saturday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Standley Lake has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 158.6 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Lakewood, though, as they've been averaging only 76.3 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?

Standley Lake came up short against Lakewood in their previous matchup back in August, falling 18-12. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Tigers' Saylor Slaughter, who rushed for 94 yards and one TD on only 11 carries, and also threw for 226 yards and one touchdown. Now that the Gators know the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
