Preview: Northeastern Eagles vs. Currituck County Knights
Northeastern has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Currituck County Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northeastern posted their biggest win since December 27, 2023 on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 59-17 win over Manteo at home. With Northeastern ahead 35-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Jasmine Felton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Northeastern's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriella Furges, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Currituck County was handed a three-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech on Tuesday. Currituck County blew past Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech 46-2 at home. Given Currituck County's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech is ranked 550th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northeastern's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Currituck County, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Northeastern against Currituck County in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 69-29 win. With Northeastern ahead 39-18 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
