Baseball Game Preview: Cardinal Hayes Cardinals vs. Moore Catholic Mavericks

The Cardinal Hayes Cardinals will take on the Moore Catholic Mavericks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Cardinal Hayes has now lost seven straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 27th.

Cardinal Hayes fell victim to St. Francis Prep and their airtight pitching crew back in March. They lost 16-0 to the Terriers.

Cardinal Hayes saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Cepeda, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double.

Meanwhile, Moore Catholic faced St. Peter's in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mavericks fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Mavericks were not able to get on the board.

NICHOLAS NEVILLE spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Moore Catholic is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-4-1 otherwise.

This is the second loss in a row for Moore Catholic and nudges their season record down to 3-5-1. As for Cardinal Hayes, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
