Basketball Preview: High Plains Storm vs. Fullerton Warriors
The High Plains Storm will take on the Fullerton Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. High Plains will be strutting in after a victory while Fullerton will be coming in after a defeat.
High Plains is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Thursday. They came out on top against Grand Island Lutheran by a score of 43-32. The Storm haven't had any issues with the Lightning recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
High Plains had a senior duo take command as Gahvrielle Lesiak posted 17 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals and Peyton Hofmann almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. Taya Hans was another key player, going 5-for-8 on her way to 10 points.
Meanwhile, Fullerton played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 67-45 to Burwell. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Longhorns recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
High Plains will have to contain Georgia Bridger as she made an impact in Fullerton's last game. She dropped a double-double with 26 points and 13 boards. Bridger is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Ava Smith, who earned 11 points.
