Basketball Recap: Hope Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Hope Christian Academy lost against First Assembly Christian Academy back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Hope Christian Academy Lions took a blow against the First Assembly Christian Academy Eagles, falling 76-45. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-20.

Despite the loss, Hope Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Zenik Patrick went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points and six boards. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for Patrick. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Wilson, who posted seven points and three steals.

First Assembly Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sean James, who went 7 of 10 en route to 16 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. James has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Burke, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 15 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Hope Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for First Assembly Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Hope Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Corinth Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for First Assembly Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Northside Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
