Basketball Recap: Jack Kelsey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cedar Ridge over Person

Cedar Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They took a 56-40 bruising from the Person Rockets. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Red Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 467th, while the Rockets are ranked 81st).

Cedar Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jack Kelsey, who posted six points in addition to nine blocks and eight boards. Those nine blocks gave Kelsey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordan Jacobson, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds.

Cedar Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Person, their victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2.

Cedar Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-43 win against Southern Alamance on the 28th. Person has also already played their next game, a 63-47 victory against Halifax County on the 27th.
