Recap: Brownfield Cubs vs. Friona Chieftans
The Brownfield Cubs entered their tilt with the Friona Chieftans with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Brownfield put the hurt on Friona with a sharp 65-45 win on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Brownfield, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Brownfield can attribute much of their success to Amery Pauda, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Pauda pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Saldana, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Brownfield has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-14 record this season. As for Friona, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-13.
Brownfield will face off against Muleshoe at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Friona, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Littlefield at 4:00 p.m. Littlefield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Friona in Texas (Littlefield is ranked 222nd, while Friona is ranked 1197th).
