Softball Recap: Hastings Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Gretna

Hastings faced Gretna in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Dragons 6-4. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Dragons on Saturday, they had to take a 4-1 loss.

ELLA TINSMAN spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on STELLA THOMSEN, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of BROOKE OCHSNER, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run.

Hastings' win bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Gretna, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 16-5 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hastings will take on Norris at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gretna, they will square off against Standing Bear at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.
