Football Game Preview: DeSoto Central Jaguars vs. Germantown Red Devils

The DeSoto Central Jaguars will take on the Germantown Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

DeSoto Central is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Charleston: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Jaguars blew the Tigers out of the water with a 49-14 final score. With the Jaguars ahead 28-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Eric Perry produced another solid performance rushing for 100 yards and three scores on only seven carries, while also throwing for 122 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven passes. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in November of 2024. Cade Rodgers was another key player, rushing for 177 yards and one TD while picking up 8.0 yards per carry.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: DeSoto Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 345 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 191 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to DeSoto Central's defense and their 3.5 sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Landon Caradine, Kalen Higgs, and Tyler Brasswell, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, Germantown strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Memphis Central as they made off with a 45-21 win. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won four contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

Germantown's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for DeSoto Central, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
