Recap: Zapata Hawks vs. Hidalgo Pirates

The Zapata Hawks lost against the Hidalgo Pirates back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Zapata fell just short of Hidalgo by a score of 35-33. Zapata has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Edgar Jauregui had a dynamite game for Hidalgo, scoring 12 points along with seven steals. Another player making a difference was Gerald Perez, who scored eight points along with two steals.

Zapata's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-18. As for Hidalgo, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-16.

Zapata will be playing in front of their home fans against La Feria at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in La Feria's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups. As for Hidalgo, they will head out on the road to square off against Raymondville at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hidalgo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Monday.
