Recap: Munroe Bobcats vs. Leon Lions
The Munroe Bobcats pushed their score all the way to 60 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Leon by a score of 63-60. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Munroe came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Leon is ranked 559th).
Munroe's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leith Kenon, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Kenon hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Alashawn Hagan was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Munroe has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season. As for Leon, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-17.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Munroe will take on Gadsden County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Gadsden County is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Leon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wakulla at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
