Baseball Recap: Tuscola Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Tuscola unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the North Buncombe Black Hawks by a score of 7-5 on Tuesday. The Mountaineers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Black Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Tuscola got a good showing from Mason Harrell, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Evan Conner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Tuscola didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 13-9 victory against South Point on the 26th. As for North Buncombe, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-0 win against Owen on the 26th.
