The Oakhaven Hawks will host the Greenfield Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakhaven has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 124 points over their last three games.
On Friday, Oakhaven blew past Middleton, posting a 40-3 victory. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Oakhaven's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Darius Caver, who threw for 298 yards and four touchdowns on only ten passes. A healthy portion of Caver's aerial production (96 yards to be exact) went to Austin Bean, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Oakhaven's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Lenardo Knox Jr got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Greenfield and Gleason, and Gleason kept the tradition alive. The Yellowjackets fell 14-8 to the Bulldogs on Thursday. The Yellowjackets gained 159 more yards on the day, but it was the Bulldogs that made the best use of them.
Oakhaven will have to contain Easton Sullivan as he made an impact in Greenfield's last game. He rushed for 133 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 135 yards on only 12 passes.
Greenfield didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jerry Foley. The game marked his first with multiple interceptions this season.
Greenfield's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Oakhaven, their record is now 7-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Oakhaven has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 191.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Greenfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 191.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
