Basketball Recap: Marion County Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Marion County played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Winfield Pirates, falling 58-34. The Red Raiders haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Defeat or not, Marion County got some senior leadership from Philip Wilson and Samuel Taylor. Wilson posted six points along with eight boards and four steals, while Taylor put up 12 points and seven rebounds. Wilson is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Marion County's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Winfield, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marion County will head out to challenge Vina at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Winfield, they will venture away from home to square off against Carbon Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.56 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
