Football Game Preview: McDowell Titans vs. Page Pirates + How To Watch

The McDowell Titans will venture away from home to challenge the Page Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McDowell is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

McDowell's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Freedom on Friday. They were dealt a 41-0 loss at the hands of the Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Patriots are ranked 62nd).

Meanwhile, Page never let their opponents score on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Western Guilford 56-0. The Pirates have beaten the Hornets the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Hornets has come to flipping the script.

McDowell better keep an eye on Anthony Johnson. He was instrumental in Page's win, throwing for 244 yards and four TDs on only 15 passes, while also rushing for 39 yards and one score. What's more, Johnson racked up 138.2 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August. Christopher Armstrong was in the mix as well, providing Page with two touchdowns.

Page didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Justin White and Khayri Winchester. White has been hot recently, having posted at least one interception the last three times he's played. Page received some extra help from White, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Page's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for McDowell, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. McDowell has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 161.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Page struggles in that department as they've been averaging 159.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
