Preview: Knightdale Knights vs. Heritage Huskies
After two games on the road, Knightdale is heading back home. They will take on the Heritage Huskies at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Knightdale will be strutting in after a win while Heritage will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Knightdale beat Wake Forest 43-39. The victory was all the more spectacular given Knightdale's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while Wake Forest is ranked 79th).
Knightdale found their leader in underclassman Abigail Taylor, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Watkins, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Heritage's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to Millbrook at home by a decisive 40-26 margin. Heritage has struggled against Millbrook recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Knightdale has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Heritage, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
Knightdale came up short against Heritage in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 39-31. Can Knightdale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
