Softball Recap: Andrean Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Andrean proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Morgan Township Cherokees 8-7. The Fighting 59ers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cherokees, too.

The team relied heavily on Maggie Voliva, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Dani Poskin also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Andrean's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Morgan Township, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Andrean will be playing in front of their home fans against Lafayette Central Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Fighting 59ers are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Morgan Township, they will head out to square off against Washington Township at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
