Basketball Game Preview: North Warren Central Cougars vs. Lake George Lakers

The North Warren Central Cougars will face off against the Lake George Lakers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

North Warren Central is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Saratoga Central Catholic just ended the team's seven-game winning streak dating back to last season last Saturday. The contest between them and the Saints didn't end well, with North Warren Central falling 68-50.

Despite the defeat, North Warren Central saw an underclassman step up: freshman Semaj Cuyler dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 boards. The game was Cuyler's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Horge, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Lake George was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 70-31 defeat at the hands of Corinth. The Lakers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-21.

Ricky Stroup was Lake George's leading scorer, having posted ten points. Eli Brown held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.

Lake George's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for North Warren Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

North Warren Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Lake George in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 50-41. Does North Warren Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake George turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
