Football Game Preview: St. Paul Swordsmen vs. St. Francis Golden Knights + Official Tickets

The St. Paul Swordsmen will face off against the St. Francis Golden Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses dating back to last season for St. Paul and seven for St. Francis dating back to last season.

St. Paul's last matchup with Cathedral could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Friday. The Swordsmen were dealt a 56-25 loss at the hands of the Phantoms.

The losing side was boosted by Gabriel Castaneda, who rushed for 126 yards and one score while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Jordan Lauago, who gained 91 total yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, St. Francis was beaten by St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy 42-15 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Golden Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Warriors are ranked 140th).

St. Paul's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for St. Francis, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 0-6.

St. Paul beat St. Francis 27-17 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Will the Swordsmen repeat their success, or do the Golden Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
