Baseball Game Preview: Turner Ashby Knights vs. Wilson Memorial Green Hornets

The Turner Ashby Knights will face off against the Wilson Memorial Green Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Turner Ashby will be strutting in after a victory while Wilson Memorial will be coming in after a loss.

Last Thursday, Turner Ashby earned a 7-2 win over Fort Defiance. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Thomas Knight was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 4.1 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases.

In other pitching news, Tyler Hill looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Caden Simmers, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Everett Johnson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Wilson Memorial lost 11-1 to Broadway on Monday. The Green Hornets have struggled against the Gobblers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Wilson Memorial now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Turner Ashby, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Turner Ashby couldn't quite get it done against Wilson Memorial in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can Turner Ashby avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
