Blue Ridge will be up against a hot St. Mary's squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. St. Mary's blew past Combs 18-2 on Wednesday. While the Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Meredith Schager made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, St. Mary's got a massive performance out of Giahni Ruiz, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Analysa Mejia was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
St. Mary's always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .517 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Blue Ridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on Monument Valley with a sharp 13-3 victory on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Yellow Jackets considering their two-run performance the contest before.
The team relied heavily on Xyomara Navarro, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Slaughter, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Blue Ridge's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for St. Mary's, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
