Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Oak Grove

Oak Grove lost to Notre Dame de Sion back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Panthers managed a 46-40 win over the Storm. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Panthers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Storm are ranked 148th).

When it comes to explaining why Notre Dame de Sion lost, don't look at Sydney Blaine. Despite the final result, she went 7-for-15 on her way to 25 points in addition to seven boards and six steals. Blaine has become a key player for the Storm: the team is 6-2 when she posts at least three steals, but 2-3 otherwise.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Oak Grove, bringing their record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points over those games. As for Notre Dame de Sion, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Looking ahead, Oak Grove will take on Summit Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Notre Dame de Sion, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Pius X at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
