Football Game Preview: Pflugerville Connally Cougars vs. Elgin Wildcats + How To Watch

The Pflugerville Connally Cougars will face off against the Elgin Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Elgin took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Pflugerville Connally, who comes in off a win.

Pflugerville Connally is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Navarro 63-6. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Pflugerville Connally's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jase Watkins, who threw for 155 yards and five TDs on only 12 passes. The Cougars are 2-1 when Watkins posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Another rusher making a difference was Taj Gaddy, who rushed for 98 yards and one score on only 11 carries.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 70 points the game before, Elgin was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were outmatched by Bastrop and fell 62-6. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since November 2, 2018, but that streak is no more.

Pflugerville Connally pushed their record up to 4-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points over those games. As for Elgin, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Pflugerville Connally might still be hurting after the 45-23 defeat they got from Elgin in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Cougars were down 31-6.
