Softball Recap: Western Wayne Comes Up Short

Western Wayne extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-8-1. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Delaware Valley Warriors. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

As for Delaware Valley, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

For Delaware Valley's part, Samantha Baumann was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Baumann a new career-high. Isabella Stahlman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western Wayne will challenge Mid Valley at 4:35 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Delaware Valley, they will square off against Wallenpaupack Area at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
