Football Game Preview: Cerritos Dons vs. Glenn Eagles

The Cerritos Dons will take on the Glenn Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cerritos has five straight wins, Glenn has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Cerritos is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Pioneer 59-6. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Dons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Titans are ranked 803rd).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cerritos to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sam Reeves, who rushed for 139 yards and two scores on only ten carries. Reeves' longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another passer making a difference was Justin Sagun, who threw for 138 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75% of his passes.

Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Glenn after they claimed the first score on Thursday, but it was Artesia who ended up claiming the real prize. The contest between the Eagles and the Pioneers didn't end well, with the Eagles falling 21-7. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly 14 points.

Cerritos' victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Glenn, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Everything came up roses for Cerritos against Glenn in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 35-0 win. Do the Dons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
