Baseball Recap: St. Mary's Ryken Takes a Loss

St. Mary's Ryken came into this matchup off a tough nine-run defeat last Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Bishop O'Connell by a score of 7-5 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to St. Mary's Ryken of the 1-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

AJ Stefko made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3.

St. Mary's Ryken's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-7. As for Bishop O'Connell, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Mary's Ryken will square off against La Plata at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bishop O'Connell, they will take on St. John's at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cadets will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
