Football Recap: Georgetown Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Georgetown and Oceanside Collegiate Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Georgetown had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Landsharks and fell 49-15. The defeat leaves the Bulldogs still looking for their first win of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oceanside Collegiate Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aiden Manavian, who threw for 210 yards and four TDs while completing 87.5% of his passes. Manavian's passing game has become a key predictor of the Landsharks' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Anthony Williams was Manavian's top target, picking up 39 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while also punching in one rushing score.

Georgetown's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Oceanside Collegiate Academy, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Georgetown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Oceanside Collegiate Academy, they will square off against Marlboro County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
