Football Recap: Alexandria-Monroe's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Two

If Frankton wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Alexandria-Monroe, they should've done a better job of containing Brady Gast. The Tigers really took it to the Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up a 40-0 victory for which the team can thank Gast, who threw for 316 yards and three TDs while picking up 12.2 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 39 yards. His passing game has become a key predictor of Alexandria-Monroe's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

Alexandria-Monroe's leading receiver Bryson Eckler was Gast's top target yet again, picking up 158 receiving yards. Eckler really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 74 yards.

The win made it two in a row for Alexandria-Monroe and bumps their season record up to 5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 21 points in those games. As for Frankton, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Alexandria-Monroe is set to square off against their familiar foe Madison-Grant at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Tigers 12.9, the Argylls 10.3) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Frankton will challenge rival Blackford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
