Softball Recap: Oregon City Pioneers vs. Mountainside Mavericks

Oregon City had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged the Mountainside Mavericks out 6-5. Winning may never get old, but Oregon City sure is getting used to it with their 13th in a row.

Lily Riley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Chloe Grimmer was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Ally Pagel was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Oregon City's win bumped their record up to 25-2. As for Mountainside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-19 record this season.
