Football Recap: James Island Takes a Loss

James Island and Summerville squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but James Island had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 45-16 loss at the hands of the Green Wave. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Trojans, who until this contest were averaging 14.86 points allowed.

Despite the defeat, James Island saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Raphael Puiu picked up 80 receiving yards and one score. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 60 yards.

James Island moved to 12-2 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak. As for Summerville, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2.

James Island does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Summerville, they will square off against Dutch Fork at 7:30 p.m. on the 6th. The Silver Foxes' defense has only allowed 11.8 points per game this season, so the Green Wave's offense will have their work cut out for them.
