Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ware Shoals). They were the clear victors by a 22-2 margin over the Thornwell Saints on Tuesday. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Dalton Boyter made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Brayden Madden was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Ware Shoals wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-2 loss against Palmetto on the 2nd. Hopefully Thornwell payed attention to the Hornets' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
