Volleyball Recap: Roanoke Catholic Takes a Loss

Roanoke Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They came up short against the Virginia Episcopal School Bishops, falling 3-0. The Celtics were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bishops apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While Roanoke Catholic was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-23, 25-22.

Addisen Green paced Roanoke Catholic's offense, picking up ten kills. Green got some help from Kinsley Decker and her 20 assists. Green was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Roanoke Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Virginia Episcopal School, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4.

Roanoke Catholic and Virginia Episcopal School could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Celtics (ranked 328th) will meet Eastern Montgomery (ranked 57th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Virginia Episcopal School will challenge The Covenant at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (259 vs. 6).
