Dynamic duo of Jaren Frickey and Aiden Aschenbrenner lead Ellis to victory

Recap: Ellis Railroaders vs. Smith Center Redmen

On Friday, the Ellis Railroaders's game was all tied up 23-23 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Smith Center by a score of 56-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Ellis.

Leading Ellis to victory were Jaren Frickey and Aiden Aschenbrenner. Frickey scored 20 points, while Aschenbrenner scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The match was Frickey's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavyn Wildeman, who scored five points.

Smith Center lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Wyatt Overmiller, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Brant Wilson, who scored 14 points.

Ellis' victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Smith Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Ellis will be playing at home against Thomas More Prep-Marian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Thomas More Prep-Marian is ranked 261st, while Ellis is ranked 268th). As for Smith Center, they will head out on the road to face off against Russell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Russell is on a five-game streak of home losses, Smith Center an 11-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
