Softball Preview: Meridian Hawks vs. Argenta-Oreana Bombers
The Meridian Hawks are headed away from home for the first time to challenge the Argenta-Oreana Bombers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Argenta-Oreana took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Meridian, who comes in off a win.
Meridian's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Clifton Central 13-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.
Meridian got a massive performance out of Julia Meisenhelter, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Morgan Knierim, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Meridian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clifton Central only posted a batting average of .125.
Meanwhile, Argenta-Oreana was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Monticello.
Gracie Manning made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
Meridian's record now sits at 2-0. As for Argenta-Oreana, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Meridian couldn't quite get it done against Argenta-Oreana in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can Meridian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
