Volleyball Recap: St. Edward's Takes a Loss

The St. Edward's Pirates lost 3-0 to the Vero Beach Indians on Tuesday.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Vero Beach scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-18, 25-18.

Makena Rodriguez paced St. Edward's offense, picking up nine kills. Rodriguez got some help from Margaret Fykes and her 17 assists. Finally, Grace Clemente kept St. Edward's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

St. Edward's has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Vero Beach, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Edward's will face off against Merritt Island Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Vero Beach, they will challenge South Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
