Volleyball Game Preview: St. John's Mavericks vs. Episcopal Knights

The St. John's Mavericks will challenge the Episcopal Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

On Tuesday, St. John's got the win against The Awty International by a conclusive 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won eight in a row.

St. John's not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept The Awty International between 14 and 16 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-16, 25-14.

Meanwhile, Episcopal made easy work of Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Episcopal was: they took every set by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-14, 25-12.

Episcopal's win bumped their record up to 16-12-1. As for St. John's, their victory bumped their record up to 21-14.

Everything went St. John's way against Episcopal in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as St. John's made off with a 3-0 win. Will the Mavericks repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
