Baseball Recap: Clawson Has No Trouble Against Clintondale

Clawson never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Clintondale Dragons with a sharp 15-0 victory. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Trent Stephan and Jackson Hein made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Stephan tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hein tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. At bat, Stephan went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Hein earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave Stephan a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elliott Groves, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Steven Chapman was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Clawson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Clawson pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Clintondale, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clawson will square off against Shrine Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
