Volleyball Recap: Blythewood Comes Up Short

If Blythewood was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Sumter on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bengals fell 3-1 to the Lexington Wildcats on Monday. The Bengals have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

While Blythewood ultimately came up short, they really made Lexington work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-19.

Eliana (Eli) Verwers paced Blythewood's offense, picking up 14 kills. Verwers got some help from Charlotte Eddis and her 35 assists. Olivia Ford controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Juliette Grandjean had a dynamite game For Lexington., getting 22 digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave Grandjean a new career-high in assists (six).

Blythewood now has a losing record of 14-15. As for Lexington, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-16 record this season.

Blythewood will face off against Ridge View at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lexington, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against White Knoll on the 14th.
